Who is a Good Candidate for a Thigh Lift- Patients who desire a more youthful appearance of the thighs where there is excess overhanging and loose skin. This is often associated with significant weight reduction by dieting or weight loss surgery.
The Procedure
- General anaesthesia is used and the procedure takes about two hours.
- The incision for inner thigh lift is located in the groin beneath the bikini line. It has a tendency to stretch slightly.
- The procedure may involve liposuction of any excess fat in the thighs and legs and then removing excess skin high up in the groin.
- An outer thigh lift is often combined with other skin tightening procedures such as a tummy tuck or body lift.
- The skin excisions are sutured with buried dissolving sutures.
- Small soft drains are used for approximately two days.
- A light compression garment is used for several weeks.
Recovery after a Thigh Lift
- You can go home the next day.
- You can shower on the second or third day after surgery when the drains are out.
- There is only minimal pain and is mostly gone by the second or third day.
- Swelling and bruising is mild to moderate and usually disappears after two weeks.
- You can resume many light activities within the first week and full activities by approximately three to four weeks.
- Sutures are buried and dissolve and do not require removal.
- Expect to be off work for approximately one to two weeks.
